John Saia is a Consultant for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). He works with all the car companies on behalf of ASE and as a Field Manager for the ASE Education Foundation. John started his ASE role following his retirement as the manager of the Toyota & Lexus Technical & Body Training Development group for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. He held that position for 18 years, as part of his 24-year tenure at Toyota’s USA headquarters.

Prior to joining Toyota, John was the National Technical Training Manager at Goodyear as part of a 14-year career. John is an ASE Master Automobile Technician since 1974 and has worked in the automotive service industry for over 50 years.

John has also served numerous terms on the ASE Board of Directors for twelve years, with Toyota and with Goodyear. For nine years, John served as a Trustee and is a Past Board Chairman for the ASE Education Foundation (formerly NATEF). John has also served as Chairman and Director for the Automotive Training Managers Council (ATMC) and a Trustee for the Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF).

John enjoys driving his 1966 Shelby G.T. 350 and Daytona Cobra Coupe replica, both shared regularly in car shows in Southern California. He bought his first G.T. 350 at age 19. He is also an avid motorcyclist frequently found ‘enthusiastically’ sport-riding one his two Honda Interceptors in the mountain & canyon roads surrounding Los Angeles.

He resides in Rolling Hills Estates, California, with his wife, Helen. John has four children and five grandchildren.
