The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy (PVPLC) was founded in 1988 by a group of citizens that were concerned…More about the preservation of the undeveloped land. The Conservancy has successfully preserved 1,400 acres of the Peninsula, providing tax benefits for those who donate land. The organization's geographic reach covers Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates, San Pedro and Rancho Palos Verdes, while its land preserves include the Portuguese Bend Nature Preserve in Rancho Palos Verdes, the Chandler Preserve in Rolling Hills Estates and the George F. Canyon Preserve and Nature Center, also in Rolling Hills Estates.
The Conservancy operates a stewardship program that works to preserve native habitats and protect native species such as the Palos Verdes blue butterfly and the California gnatcather. Additional programs offered include nature walks and educational programs for adults, children and teens. The PVPLC regularly holds fundraising events where all funds go to continue site improvements and habitat restoration. For more information on the programs offered, visit the Conservancy's Web site.
