Office of the City Manager handles city management business. The City Manager is a professional hired by the CityMore Council to direct the day to day affairs of the City and carry out the wishes of the City Council. The City Manager  proposes policies and  supervises the preparation of the City's budget and financial reports. In addition, the City Manager's staff  is responsible for risk management and providing community outreach that includes a City Newsletter. They issue permits and oversee employee contracts and benefits and coordinate the City's emergency preparedness program.

The City Council provides local government service for residents in Rancho Palos Verdes. Mayor Stefan Wolowicz, MayorMore Pro Tem Tom Long, Brian Campbell, Douglas W. Stern and Anthony M. Misetich make up the City Council for Rancho Palos Verdes. The City Council meets at 7 pm on the first and third Tuesday of the month at Fred Hesse Community Park.

The City Council of Rancho Palos Verdes is comprised of five members: Mayor Stefan Wolowicz, Mayor Pro-Tem Thomas D.More Long, Councilmember Brian Campbell, Councilmember Anthony M. Misetich and Councilmember Douglas W. Stern. It meets the first and third Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Committees and Commissions appointed by the City Council are the Planning Commission, Traffic Safety Commission, Equestrian Committee, Finance Advisory Committee and Emergency Preparedness Committee. They also appoint the City Clerk.
