Monday Essentials: Bring Your Holiday Cheer

Here's what to look forward to this week in Palos Verdes.

Happy Monday! Here are five things Palos Verdes residents should know this week:

  1. The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Hesse Park Community Center.
  2. The Palos Verdes Ballet will present its annual rendition of the Nutcracker this weekend. Check out more holiday festivities on the events calendar—and don't forget to add your own!
  3. The week before Christmas is a great time to donate food to needy local families. Consider a donation of food of funds to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. The organization feeds 1 million people annually in Los Angeles County.
  4. Saturday is the first day of winter. We don’t always acknowledge this season in Southern California, but after a period of unusually cold weather and pleas to conserve natural gas, it sure feels like winter. Here’s a link to the official winter forecast.
  5. The photo above of a snowy egret flying over the tidepools in Rancho Palos Verdes was posted to Flickr's Creative Commons collection by Richard Cabrera.
