Expect Delays on Hawthorne, Crenshaw This Weekend

Drivers should be aware of community events and road work when they plan their weekend routes.

A community event and road construction may cause delays around the Hill and in Torrance over the weekend, according to news releases from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station and the Torrance Police Department.

In Rolling Hills Estates, the Portuguese Bend National Horse Show will take place at Ernie Howlett Park on Saturday and Sunday, and thus drivers should expect delays on Hawthorne Boulevard between Palos Verdes Drive North and Rolling Hills Road. Deputies expect the delays to come between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days.

In Torrance, crews will be repairing pavement at the intersection of Crenshaw and Lomita boulevards, according to the Torrance Police Department. The repairs will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday and last overnight through 6 p.m. Sunday.

"The work requires a closure of eastbound and westbound Lomita (Boulevard) and Crenshaw (Boulevard)," police said. "Multiple travel and turn lanes on Crenshaw (Boulevard) will be closed. Travel delays are expected."

During the road work, Crenshaw Boulevard will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction at the intersection, and both the left and right turn lanes will be closed. Drivers will be prohibited from turning left or right onto Lomita Boulevard.
