Crash Stalls Traffic at RHE, Torrance Border

A small child reported feeling pain after the three-car collision.

Traffic backed up along Hawthorne Boulevard on Friday evening after a three-car crash blocked the northbound lanes on the border of Torrance and Rolling Hills Estates.

A car in the northbound lanes of Hawthorne Boulevard collided with a car and an SUV making a left turn to head eastbound on Rolling Hills Road, according to Officer Dustin Dasner with the Torrance Police Department.

A traffic signal controls the left turn from Hawthorne Boulevard to Rolling Hills Road; however, Dasner said he couldn't speculate as to whether any of the vehicles ran a red light.

Nobody was transported to the hospital, but a small child riding in one of the vehicles complained of pain, Dasner said.

The two cars sustained major damage in the crash and had to be towed from the scene. The SUV received only minor damage.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, Dasner said.

The intersection was cleared and fully reopened by 8:30 p.m.
