Peninsula Panthers Start Tournament With Big Win!

Recap of the first-round game of El Segundo Holiday Tournament, Peninsula Panthers vs. Whittier Cardinals.

On Wednesday, the Peninsula Panthers Boys Junior Varsity Team traveled to El Segundo to begin the Holiday Tournament with a first round game against Whittier High School.

The Whittier Cardinals were coming off a third-place finish in a previous tournament, but the Panthers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Panthers used a high energy full court press to force the Cardinals into numerous turnovers and the Panthers began scoring quickly and continuously.

The Panthers were led by sophmore Kurt Milch who tallied 25 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Junior guard Donte Buchanon joined Milch by contributing 24 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

All members of the team contributed and the Panthers earned a well deserved victory with the final score of 92-49.

The Panthers will now face the winner of the El Segundo vs. Laces on Thursday January 3rd, 2013 at 7:30 PM at the El Segundo gymnasium in the second round of the tournament.
