Peninsula Panthers JV Boys take on Leuzinger Olympians in Bay League Tilt

Peninsula Panthers versus Leuzinger Olympians recap.

The Peninsula Panthers JV Boys basketball team looked to get back on the winning track last night against the Leuzinger Olympians. The Panthers were coming off of a tough loss to Redondo and still had several players feeling the lasting effects of the flu.

The Panthers came out strong and with pressure defense, causing numerous turnovers, they raced to a 16-9 first quarter lead. The second quarter was a much different story with the Panthers turning the ball over in unforced situations and playing sloppy defense.

The Olympians took advantage of this, and coupled with poor shooting from the Panthers, the Olympians cut the Panther lead to 2 at the half, 26-24.

The Panthers came out with a renewed focus and began to build pressure defensively causing the Olympians to turn the ball over repeatedly. The Panthers seized these opportunities and outscored the Olympians 17-8 in the third quarter to take a 43-32 advantage heading into the 4th and final quarter.

The fourth quarter turned into a sloppy display on both sides and each team struggled to find any consistency and each side could only manage 7 points a piece.
