Blog: Veterans Being Denied Gun Ownership.

Due process and common sense gun control for veterans.

I have never completely read the "Brady Bill" passed by congress years ago. I am not a hand gun owner, so I really never was concerned with rules on "Handgun" ownership. My wife and I made a decision years ago, more than 30 years ago, not to have handguns in our home—not because we don't like handguns, but because we just didn't want one in our home.

Today I received an email from one of the Veteran sites that I signed up for. Normally, 99 percent of the emails don't pass the sniff test; those that do pass the sniff test, generally are found to be inaccurate at best, outright political spin at the worst. Today I received an email that piqued my interest; it was a chain email claiming that the Veterans Administration had started sending letters to veterans that, based on a decision by a VA administrator and backed by the "Brady Bill," they would be stripped of their right to posses not only handguns, but all guns and ammunition.  After further review at the link below, this is what I found out.

My questions about this is simple, at what point did veterans, regardless of a supposed medical state, give up their 5th amendment rights? Are veterans, by being veterans, not allowed to have this adjudicated by a court and not just a person behind a desk somewhere?

This is one of those issues, that affect the entire spectrum of people, no matter what their party affiliation may be. I, like most legal gun owners, don't have issues with common sense gun control. This is no longer common sense gun control, this is a violation of an individuals due process.

Any folks out there want to help me fight this, because this affects every single one of us?

Kelley, generally when I find things like this, I look for answers. This is one of those occasions that I simple don't even know where to start. Who made the decision to do this? Why they made that decision? Who is accountable for it, are just a few things that I'm going to try and find out. Then obliviously, how to fix this. Hopefully it doesn't take a burn down the village mentality to get this fixed, if it does, thanks for having my back.

I'm starting to get some answers, it is now clear what the intention is, stop those that have the ability to stop the government first, read the above pdf. If you ain't worried, you ain't alive.
