Palos Verdes Teen Places 8th in 5K
Village Runner hosts the 19th annual Fourth of July 5K Community Run and Walk.
Runners and walkers from Palos Verdes were among the more than 2,400 people who participated in a Fourth of July 5K Run/Walk in Redondo Beach.
Thousands of participants ranging in age from 3 to 88 years old showed up for the 19th annual Village Runner on a foggy Wednesday morning in South Redondo Beach.
Casey Celestin, 16, of Palos Verdes, finished eighth overall with a time of 16:09.81. Reo Miranda Lavert, 17, of Rancho Palos Verdes, finished 11th overall with a time of 16:25.89. Jon Megeff, 48, and Lucas Robinson, 17, both of Rancho Palos Verdes, also placed among the top 20 finishers with times of 16:33.23 and 16:37.24 respectively.

The race began in front of in Riviera Village. Runners headed northbound on South Catalina Avenue, west on Avenue I, north on the Esplanade and onto South Catalina Avenue until Torrance Boulevard. Participants then retraced their steps back to Village Runner.
