Blue Whales Spotted off Palos Verdes
A mother and her calf are spotted off the coast of Palos Verdes on Wednesday morning.
At least two blue whales were spotted off the coast of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Wednesday morning, possibly signaling that the leviathans are back in Southern California waters, ABC7 reported.
Whale watchers spotted the mother and her calf swimming off the coast at about 11 a.m.
About 15 blue whales were spotted off Point Vicente on Sunday, according to a Facebook post from the American Cetacean Society's Los Angeles chapter.

"Feeding blue whales have moved solidly into Palos Verdes waters—some of them as close as 100 yards off Point Vicente!" the post said.
Blue whales, which are the world's largest mammals and can weigh more than 100 tons, have been visiting the South Bay and the Palos Verdes Peninsula for the past couple of years. They feed on krill—tiny shrimp that are abundant in the area.
