Video Fishing Update with Patch's Philip Friedman

On the water with angler reports of tuna, yellowtail and barracuda from Baja to Catalina and the Santa Monica Bay.

This Patch fishing video review covers waters off Baja California to the Santa Monica Bay. The summer fishing season is really coming together with tuna, white sea bass, barracuda, sand and calico bass all getting into the picture.

There has been some very good bluefin tuna fishing along with some albacore a few hundred miles from San Diego. Hopes are that these tuna schools will move closer to San Diego and kick the season off.

Twilight sand bass fishing has also been getting better with some boats catching their 10-fish limits.

There has been excellent white sea bass fishing at Catalina Island as well as just off the Huntington Flats. Most boats had reached their limits  on white sea bass early Saturday morning at Catalina.

Private boaters have been fishing near giant schools of bait in 40 feet of water and catching some sea bass weighing as much as 50 pounds just off the Huntington Pier.

Daniel Ruiz from Orange was on the Redondo Special and caught a nice 10-pound ling cod as the Santa Monica Bay continues to provide good rock fishing too.
