RPV Man Scores 2 Goals in U.S. Water Polo Win

A Rancho Palos Verdes resident is a member of the U.S. men's national water polo team.

The U.S. men's national water polo team defeated Argentina, 14-8,  today at Northwood High School in Irvine in its final exhibition game before beginning the UANA World Aquatics Championship Qualification Tournament Wednesday in Calgary, Alberta.

Rancho Palos Verdes resident Nikola Vavic, who attended Loyola High School and is currently a student at USC, scored twice, as did teammate Greg Enloe.

Defender Jesse Smith—one of the four players on the U.S. team that also played on the team that finished eighth at the London Olympics—scored three goals. Fellow 2012 Olympian Jeff Powers scored twice.

Goalkeeper Andy Stevens, a Villa Park resident, made nine saves.

The U.S. led 4-2 at the end of the first quarter, 8-4 at halftime and 10-6 after three quarters.
