UPDATE: Half Marathon to Tie Up Roads in Palos Verdes Saturday

Some roads in Rancho Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Estates will be closed 5 a.m. to noon, but traffic will likely be slow even after roads are reopened.

are expected to cause traffic delays for much of the day Saturday in Palos Verdes as they take to the streets for a half marathon and 5K. 

Some roads in Rancho Palos Verdes and Palos Verdes Estates will be closed for the race, which will run 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Most impacted streets are expected to close at 5 a.m. and reopen at noon.

From 6-10 a.m., the ocean side of Palos Verdes Drive South (southbound to eastbound) will be closed from Hawthorne Boulevard to Narcissa Drive. Two-way traffic will be diverted to the inland side of Palos Verdes Drive South, leaving one lane of traffic for each direction. From 6-10 a.m., all streets south of Palos Verdes Drive South from Hawthorne Boulevard to Narcissa Drive will have restricted access.

The race's main gathering point, which includes the registration area, start and finish line, and shuttle drop-off, will be located in the Pelican Cove parking lot at the northwest corner of . The lot will be closed to the public starting Friday.

Residents should avoid event parking locations at , the Salvation Army property, as well as portions of the parking structure at the .

No public trails will be closed during the event. There will be no vehicle access to the parking lot until 10 a.m., the parking spaces off Calle Entradero until noon, and the Pelican Cove parking lot until 2 p.m.

Public parking for coastal trail users will be provided at specific locations at Terranea and the .
