Rotary Recognizes 'Educator of the Year'

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary recognizes 10 local educators as "Educator of the Year."

Educators from schools across the Palos Verdes Peninsula were honored earlier this month at the annual Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary "Educator of the Year" dinner Nov. 7 at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates.

This year's honorees were Tracey Martin of St. John Fisher School; Jill Verenkoff of Palos Verdes Peninsula High School; Karen Clavadetscher of Dapplegray Elementary School; Major Brian Saunders of College for Officer Training at Crestmont; Rachel Rubin of Rolling Hills Preparatory School; Susan Garman of Marymount College; Tom Clauset of Chadwick School; Thomas Fitch of Palos Verdes Intermediate School; Sasha Ritcheske of Rancho Vista Elementary School; and Kimarie Lynn of Peninsula Heritage School.

The honorees were introduced by the heads of their respective schools, and each gave a short speech on teaching in the community.

The more than 240 guests included the teachers' coworkers, members of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Board of Education, PVPUSD Superintendent Walker Williams, various city officials and other members of the community.

The event was organized by Rotary members Jim Hartman and Joan Behrens.
