PVPUSD Named to AP District Honor Roll

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District increased the number of students taking and passing AP exams.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District added another accomplishment to its list this week when it was included in the College Board's Fourth Annual AP District Honor Roll.

Twenty-nine school districts in California and 477 across the country were included on the Honor Roll, which recognizes districts that increase access to Advanced Placement courses while maintaining or increasing the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher on AP exams, according to a news release from the school different.

"PVPUSD is committed to ensuring that all of our high school graduates are college-ready," Superintendent Walker Williams said in a statement. "This honor from the College Board illustrates our unwavering dedication to achieving that goal."

Since 2011, PVPUSD has increased the number of students participating in the AP program by 230, according to the news release. Over the same period of time, the number of students scoring a 3 or higher on AP exams increased by 164.

"We applaud the extraordinary efforts of the devoted teachers and administrators in this district who are offering more students the opportunity to engage in rigorous college-level course work," said Trevor Packer, the College Board's senior vice president of AP and instruction, in a statement.

This is PVPUSD's first appearance on the Honor Roll.
