PV High, Vista Grande Get New Principals

Dr. Charles Park and Jeri Delatorre will lead Palos Verdes High School and Vista Grande Elementary School, respectively.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District has two new principals, Superintendent Walker Williams announced Friday in a news release.

Dr. Charles Park and Jeri Delatorre were appointed principals of Palos Verdes High School and Vista Grande Elementary School, respectively, at the PVPUSD Board of Education meeting Thursday.

"A great deal of time has been spent over the past few months filling principal vacancies because of retirements and resignations," according to Williams. "We have assembled a very talented group of instructional leaders; Jeri and Charles will make this leadership team even stronger."

Park, who replaces Dr. Nick Stephany after Stephany resigned his position at PVHS, had been an associate principal at the high school since July 1 of last year. Before he came to Palos Verdes, he was an assistant principal in the Pasadena Unified School District and the Garden Grove Unified School District. He was also a dean and English teacher in the Conejo Valley Unified School District.

Delatorre has taught in PVPUSD for more than two decades at Point Vicente and Soleado elementary schools. She has also served as a principal designee, mentor teacher for the USC Rossier School of Education, mentor/coach for the South Bay Consortium Beginning Teacher Support program and on the PVPUSD technology committee.
