PV High Students Win in South Bay Photo Contest

Teens from area high schools participate in the 2nd annual South Bay High School Photo Contest.

students showed off their best shots at the 2nd annual South Bay High School Photo Contest, where they were awarded some of the top prizes.

PV High student Danielle Merrihew was awarded "Best in Show" at the contest, sponsored by local nonprofit Freedom4U. More than 100 teens submitted their photographs, which were judged by local photographers.

First place awards in three categories also went to PV High photographers, including Melissa Hester in the "portraits" category; Melisa Kocarslan in the "digitally altered" category; and Ian Olfarnes in the "natural and man-made wonders" category.

Nicole White, a student at Mira Costa High School, won first place in the "abstract" category.
