Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and MasterDrive Driving School are offering free or heavily discounted drivers education classes next month for young drivers.
According to Peninsula's weekly Principal's Update, free classes will be offered to students who had parents attend a recent evening presentation on teen safe driving hosted by the school's Peer Leaders Uniting Students (PLUS) organization during Red Ribbon Week.
During that meeting, representatives from MasterDrive spoke and because of the high attendance, offered any student who attended the meeting with their parents a free driver education course.
For those that did not attend the PLUS meeting, MasterDrive said it will offer its course for $100. The discounted price represents a $100 discount off the company's normal fees.
The course will include four classroom sessions every Saturday during the month of April from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. School officials said the coursework will satisfy the requirements for a driver's permit in California.
In additon, MasterDrive said it will donate $50 to PLUS for every student that enrolls in the class.
Those interested in enrolling in the class can contact MasterDrive directly at 949-341-0031 and mention the code 'PVPHSPLUS50' for the discount. Questions can also be directed to Peninsula's Safe School Coordinator Christine Lopez at 310-377-4888, ext. 274.
