PEF Awards $25K in Grants to Teachers

The grants will pay for field trips, science lessons, art projects and more at Palos Verdes public schools.

About 30 teachers in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District received a total of $25,000 in Chuck Miller grants from the Peninsula Education Foundation.

The 33 grants, which were awarded in November at the PEF's Autumn Harvest event, are named after former PVPUSD principal, past president of PEF and local business leader Chuck Miller. Funding for the grants come from an annual donation from Miller, as well as additional funding from PEF.

The grants will pay for field trips, art projects, Shakespeare studies, science lessons and more. A complete list of grants is available online at pvpef.org.

All K-12 teachers in the PVPUSD are eligible for the grants, which are designed to enhance and complement curriculum already being taught.

The 34-year-old PEF is aiming to raise more than $3 million for public schools in Palos Verdes this year.
