PVHS Principal Nick Stephany to Resign

The resignation of Stephany, who became the principal of Palos Verdes High School in 2011, is effective June 30.

Palos Verdes High School Principal Nick Stephany will resign his post, effective June 30, according to an email sent to PVHS parents Tuesday night.

"I have accepted the position as principal of Foothill High School in the Tustin Unified School District," Stephany wrote in the email. "This is a very exciting opportunity for me to learn from incredible educators that will help me grow as a principal and educator."

Stephany—who took over as principal for the 2011-2012 school year, replacing former Principal Chris Bowles—previously served as an assistant principal, chemistry and biology teacher, and football coach at PVHS.

Dear Sea Kings,

Over the last few weeks, there has been speculation regarding the leadership and administration of PVHS. I apologize for the uncertain nature of this period of time. It is unfortunate that the PVHS community has been subjected to this uncertainty after such a successful year.

Effective June 30th, I will resign as principal of Palos Verdes High School. I have accepted the position as principal of Foothill High School in the Tustin Unified School District. This is a very exciting opportunity for me to learn from incredible educators that will help me grow as a principal and educator.

Even so, it is with a heavy heart that I leave PVHS. I have had the honor of working as a teacher, football coach, dean, associate principal, and principal of the school. I have spent the last eight years working alongside the most wonderful people from students to parents to staff members. I have watched this school achieve great feats from academics to athletics, and I am thankful that I was invited along for the ride. This school and the community have been amazing to me.

At PVHS, I have found value and purpose in the relationships I have developed with the many incredible people that make PVHS a truly special place. I will move on from PVHS for many reasons, but the staff, teachers, students and families are not included in those reasons. The staff, teachers, students and families are the reason that I would remain here forever.

I would like to thank the PVHS community, from the bottom of my heart, for an amazing eight years at one of the very best high schools in the state. I am proud of what we have experienced together and I know that PVHS will continue to thrive and innovate new ways of teaching students. I wish you all the very best in the future and I will stay in touch.

My best always,
Nick Stephany
