The Music Teachers Association of California is by far your best bet for finding an outstanding teacher of any instrument. Members must have a Bachelors degree in music, minimum, and many teach at colleges in addition to many other institutions, some of which are mentioned in these comments. MTAC offers many opportunities for students of all levels: student recitals, evaluations (Certificate of Merit), scholarship competitions, solo and ensemble competitions, a competition to perform with Beach Cities Symphony, composition contests, etc. The teachers come from diverse backgrounds, so you could be sure to find a great teacher from the long list.

I know the Music Teachers Association of California is a wonderful and helpful organization of teachers who produce some outstanding students, but is that a "place" that gives lessons? Not that I know of. My family has been taking lessons at AMUSE for the past 15 years - a great store that I know has a long and close relationship with the MTAC as well. I support our community's music teachers and I support AMUSE Music!

Amuse - no question! They are very, very well integrated with the community, their teachers are very qualified and varied, and their staff/classes & supplies are bar-none.

Amuse! I couldn't ask for a more professional, friendly and knowledgeable group of musicians/instructors in the South Bay! Thank you!!!

Amuse Music Center is THE best place to take lessons. While I do think that the Music Teachers Association of California is great, my experience has not been a successful one. I have found that Amuse really looks at my children as people and is willing to work with us in many different circumstances. You can't get that small town feel ANYWHERE else!

We've had lessons through European School, MTAC, Amuse, and South Bay Conservatory. Amuse is the most all purpose and accessible place for classes and lessons on nearly every instrument.

Palos Verdes Strings Michele Nardone (artistic director) and Monique Nardone (musical director) are outstanding teachers; they participate in MTAC and Suzuki programs, certificate of merit programs. They are patient and encourage a student in their progress. Weekly group rehearsals and performances are another avenue for students to share their music, learn to participate, and perform in public, even the youngest ones (4yrs old) and up to the Beach Double Concerto, 3rd Mvmt.!

Abosolutely Music Teachers Association of California for serious students. MTCA are organized . Students get certificate of merit for their choice of instruments ie. piano, flute, violin..... MTCA has annual music convention and honors recitals. Amuse is a great place to pick up books, beginning music lessons and mommy and me classes.

The best place for music lessons is with a highly qualified and experienced professional music teacher who can provide students with many opportunities, and so I nominate the Music Teachers' Association of California South Bay branch as the best place to find a great music teacher. Outstanding professional teachers for voice, piano and various other instruments, many opportunities for students at all levels of study.
