Tree Removal Will Shut Down Palos Verdes Drive North

A detour will be set up, starting now until 3 p.m. today.

Traffic will be detoured from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today to allow a crew to remove trees on Palos Verdes Drive North.

The detour will begin on the westbound lanes of Palos Verdes Drive North at Via Navajo, the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department announced.

The detour will go from Via Navajo to Via La Selva where the detour goes to the left. Then motorists will go west on Via La Selva to Via Pascual, and go left to return to Palos Verdes Drive North.

No parking signs will be set up on Via Navajo, Via La Selva and Via Pascual.

Residents in the 3000 to 3400 blocks of the west side of Palos Verdes Drive North will have safe access in and out of their homes during the closure.

I can understand cutting diseased trees.... but WHY take down healthy trees?? Never understand this and WHY cut during nesting season??? Need to trim/cut trees during the winter when birds aren't nesting,
