SoCal Edison to Address City's Frustration Over Outages

Southern California Edison representatives will speak at tonight's Palos Verdes Estates City Council meeting.

In response to frustrated residents and city officials in Palos Verdes Estates who have experienced recurring power outages, Southern California Edison officials tonight will give a presentation to the Palos Verdes Estates City Council on the utility issues.

Palos Verdes Estates Mayor John Rea wrote to the company in October about the outages and a feeling among council members that not enough was being done to address years of service issues.

"Over time, we have heard numerous explanations for these outages, none of which have satisfied the City Council or your customers. There is overwhelming opinion within the community that the electric distribution network and facilities serving Palos Verdes Estates are old, past their useful lives and are not being upgraded/replaced to ensure uninterrupted power service, which should be Edison's goal," he wrote in the letter. "The City Council would like assurance that Southern California Edison will make Palos Verdes Estates and the Palos Verdes Peninsula a priority for capital project funding."
