SCE to Address Outages at RPV Council Meeting

Aged electrical infrastructure and frequent outages are issues that plague much of the Peninsula.

A Southern California Edison representative Tuesday night will address Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members' concerns over frequent outages in the city, in addition to other issues related to the utility company.

Marvin Jackmon, SCE's regional manager of public affairs, to talk about similar issues, like outages, that have impacted The Hill for years.

In a February letter to Lynda Ziegler, SCE's executive vice president of power delivery services, Mayor Anthony Misetich urged SCE to prioritize "improving the electrical infrastructure of Rancho Palos Verdes."

"The city is greatly concerned about the increasing frequency of wildfires in our open space areas caused by electrical failures and accidents that threaten the lives and property of our residents, not to mention the viability of our native habitat areas," he said in the letter.

Misetich also said outages are especially problematic for residents who live near sections of Palos Verdes Estates that experience regularly-occurring electrical issues.
