RPV Council to Revisit Off-Leash Dog Beach Idea

Council members will discuss the potential use of Rancho Palos Verdes Beach as an off-leash dog beach during their Feb. 21 meeting.

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members again are set to discuss turning Rancho Palos Verdes Beach into an off-leash dog beach, a move that would officially OK the longtime use of the beach by dog lovers and their furry companions.

Future uses of the beach below will be considered during the council's Feb. 21 meeting. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at , 29301 Hawthorne Blvd.

Though city ordinances currently prohibit dogs on beaches and golf courses within the city, in addition to require dogs be leashed while in public parks, there are often dogs off leashes with their owners on the beach.

In August of last year, Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members , including whether an off-leash beach would be best for the city. The city's Recreation and Parks Department on the potential off-leash beach.
