RHE Council Votes to Cancel November Election

Three current council members are reappointed with no new candidates on the ballot.

With no new candidates running against them, Rolling Hills Estates City Council members John Addleman, Judith Mitchell and Frank Zerunyan will each serve four more years on the council after a vote Tuesday night to adopt a resolution that would cancel the city's upcoming November election.

They were each appointed to four-year terms of office as council members at the Rolling Hills Estates City Council meeting Tuesday night.

The council could appoint the three because of the state's election code which says after the end of the nomination period Aug. 12, when there are "not more candidates than offices to be elected," the council can "appoint to the office the person who has been nominated" (see this article's photo gallery for the adopted resolution).
