Rancho Palos Verdes Council to Revisit Dog Beach Pilot Program

The city council could modify or rescind ideas for a dog beach pilot program.

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members are scheduled to take another look at a dog beach pilot program scheduled to begin in the fall, which might mean a longer wait for dog lovers itching for an official spot to take their pets.

At their meeting April 3, council members will revisit the ongoing issue of whether to allow dogs on Rancho Palos Verdes Beach.

The council could modify or rescind previous ideas for a dog beach pilot program.

Council members in February toward the program and city officials were considering potential ideas, including fencing the beach for non-dog areas, various permits for dog owners to ensure safe use and scheduling off-leash times.

The beach has been used as an unofficial off-leash dog beach, despite city ordinances that prohibit dogs on beaches and golf courses within the city.
