PV Polls See Steady Stream of Voters

Palos Verdes residents will vote for President, U.S. senator, state assemblyman and U.S. representative, as well as on multiple ballot propositions, during Tuesday's election.

A steady stream of Palos Verdes voters took to the polls at the South Coast Botanic Gardens on Tuesday morning, precinct workers told Palos Verdes Patch.

Polling stations for four precincts along Palos Verdes Drive North in Rolling Hills Estates were located at the Botanic Gardens.

"We have been very busy today," said poll worker Nancy Wildman, a Rolling Hills Estates resident. "We've hardly had a moment to take a break."

As of 11:30 a.m., more than 150 people had cast their ballots in person in Wildman's precinct.

Across the room, precinct worker Elizabeth Springer said she's seen a great turnout.

"We get a few hundred people here," she said. "They were lined up outside the door this morning."

And despite the strident partisanship that has marked the race in some areas, "everybody (here) has had such a great attitude," she said.

Long Beach resident Matthew Bowers, who was volunteering as a California precinct worker for the first time, said that the local polls seemed "a lot more open" than the polls he's worked at in other states, like Tennessee.

In the other states, people judiciously used privacy drapes while casting their ballots, he said.

The polls will remain open until 8 p.m. To find your polling place, visit lavote.net.

I went to vote this morning and was told that I had already voted absentee. I've NEVER voted absentee nor did I receive an absentee ballot. I honestly hope this is an isolated incident :(
