Public Safety, San Ramon Canyon Top List of RPV Goals

A focus on crime prevention, in addition to the stabilization of San Ramon Canyon, made a list of goals and priorities recently agreed upon by Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members.

The goals, which were adopted in late March, cover everything from infrastructure fixes to trail improvements in the city.

Public safety and traffic issues topped the list of goals and priorities, including a focus on crime prevention, forging a closer relationship with the , and the consideration of a Sheriff's Department substation on city property.

A longstanding issue in Rancho Palos Verdes, , also made the list. The city plans to solicit from the federal government, in addition to the City and County of Los Angeles for the project.

An increase in citizen involvement in infrastructure goal-setting and planning was also included on the list.

The city also plans to prioritize public infrastructure, including funding options, work on the Portuguese Bend Landslide and sewer maintenance in the city. It also aims to focus on government efficiency, fiscal control and transparency.

The also made the list as part of a city goal to coordinate with the district to share recreational facilities.

The city will also focus on Western Avenue commercial corridor issues.

And in light of from residents on The Hill about poor Southern California Edison Service, Rancho Palos Verdes prioritized the safety and reliability of electrical lines in the community.

Finally, the city included a goal to work with the to improve the trail system.
