Poll: Should Skateboarding Be Banned on City Streets?

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members will consider a resolution that establishes skateboarding restrictions on some streets throughout the city.

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members on Tuesday night and other non-motorized wheeled devices, like roller skates and scooters, on more than 10 streets within the city.

If adopted, signs would be posted to alert residents that skateboards, roller skates, inline skates and scooters are not allowed on the roads.

"Many people use scooters, skates or boards as recreational, healthy, basic transportation. ... It doesn't have to be an either/or question - A city can have skate parks AND still allow its citizens to scooter or skate on public streets." —
