Palos Verdes Estates Gets New City Manager

Judy Smith, who has been acting as interim city manager, was appointed as city manager by the Palos Verdes Estates City Council during its Tuesday meeting.

The Palos Verdes Estates City Council announced the appointment of Judy Smith as city manager during Tuesday's Council meeting, after in June without cause.

"Judy Smith was the unanimous choice of the City Council to serve as our new city manger," Mayor John Rea said in a statement. "The City Council greatly respects Judy, and has the utmost confidence in her capabilities. There is no question in our minds that she is the best person for the job."

Smith has served in City positions for 16 years as assistant city manager, finance director, city clerk, risk manager and acting city manager.

She earned her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
