Nomination Period Extended for RH Council Seat

Rolling Hills Councilman Godfrey Pernell will not run for re-election.

The nomination period for the March municipal elections in Rolling Hills has been extended until close-of-business Wednesday because an incumbent did not file, officials said.

Councilman Godfrey Pernell, who has been a member of the city council since the 1970s, is not seeking re-election.

Two candidates will be elected at-large—meaning they don't represent specific districts—for the two open council seats. The following people have qualified for the ballot:

  • Bea Dieringer, Deputy district attorney
  • Thomas Heinsheimer, Incumbent
  • Spender L. Karpf, business owner
  • Jeff Pieper, planning commissioner and businessman

Two measures will also be on the ballot. The first deals with using stables built before July 12, 2010 for residential purposes; the second would clarify the city's view preservation ordinance.
