Motorists Warned of Obama Traffic

Palos Verdes drivers commuting to Los Angeles on Monday or Tuesday might face traffic backups as a result of President Obama's visit.

Traffic in the Los Angeles area could slow Monday and Tuesday as a result of President Barack Obama's visit to the region for fundraising events.

"My office is currently in touch with the White House and the Secret Service to express concern over the potential traffic delays that have been seen in past presidential visits," said Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl in a statement Friday. "My office has also been in close communication with the Los Angeles Police Department and the Department of Transportation to ensure every effort is being made to direct traffic around the closures."

No police agency is officially confirming the president's itinerary, but the West Hollywood sheriff's station on Saturday said an unspecified "special event" will occur on the Sunset Strip Monday evening.

Obama previously visited the Los Angeles area in April, and a few roads were closed for the presidential motorcade.

  • Sunset Boulevard between Barrington Avenue and La Cienega Boulevard
  • La Cienega Boulevard between Melrose Avenue and Warring Street
  • Sunset Boulevard between Rodeo Drive and Barrington Avenue
  • La Cienega in West Hollywood will be shut down Monday from 7:15-10 p.m.
