City Seeks Public Input on Possible Dog Beach

The Rancho Palos Verdes Recreation and Parks Department asks for feedback from the community regarding a potential dog beach near Trump Golf Course.

Rancho Palos Verdes officials want to know what residents think of turning what is already informally used as an off-leash dog beach into the real thing, as council members consider a proposal to change an existing city ordinance and OK the pooch-friendly beach.

The city's Recreation and Parks Department is asking for feedback from the community regarding the potential off-leash beach on Rancho Palos Verdes Beach, located below and accessed through Founders Park.

Though city ordinances currently prohibit dogs on beaches and golf courses within the city, and require dogs to be leashed while in public parks, there are often dogs off leashes with their owners on the beach.

Rocks and kelp growth in the water currently limit use of the beach for swimming and surfing.

In August of last year, Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members , including whether an off-leash beach would be best for the city.
