Changes to Council Rules on Tonight's RPV Agenda

The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council tonight will weigh changes to its rules of procedure. The discussion is expected to continue Wednesday night at an adjourned meeting.

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council members tonight will consider changes to the group's rules of procedure, in addition to new protocol for commission and committee members.

A council subcommittee, which includes Mayor Anthony Misetich and Councilwoman Susan Brooks, came up with proposed revisions to the current rules of procedure and developed a code of conduct for council members and members of city commissions and committees. This code of conduct, which would be entirely new to the city, borrows from the protocol used in neighboring Rolling Hills Estates, according to a city report.

One of the subcommittee's recommended revisions to the rules of procedure states that "with the advice of the mayor, or the mayor pro tem when the mayor is absent, the city manager prepares the agenda for city council meetings."
