Other facts

Bloomfield has dedicated time and money in support of an initiative that would create a non-partisan commission to draw California’s legislative districts. This initiative was passed by California voters in the November 2008 election.

He also invested in support of “Open Primaries,” which Californians passed in 2010, allowing all voters to vote in all primaries, regardless of party affiliation.

Another reform initiative Bloomfield is involved in that has qualified for this November’s ballot is the effort to limit the influence of special interests. This “Stop Special Interests” initiative will ban contractors from making contributions to elected officials who approve their contracts. It will also prohibit labor unions and corporations from making donations to candidates running for state office. And, it will prohibit unions and corporations from deducting political contributions from their members’ and employees’ paychecks without their permission.

Bloomfield is also listed as a co-founder of “No Labels,” an organization that encourages and backs politicians who put a priority on solving problems by seeking out and working with like-minded people, regardless of party affiliation.

Other areas of focus for Bloomfield include reforming No Child Left Behind, eliminating the national budget deficit, and ensuring that Medicare and Social Security remain solvent.

Prop 32 stops unions from AUTOMATICALLY deducting from their members' hard earned pay to fund campaigns and politicians they may not actually support. As it currently stands, it's extremely difficult to opt out of the automatic payment deduction as a union member. Union workers have the constitutional right to support or (more importantly) NOT support anything they choose. All Prop 32 would do is help them do that. Prop 32 would give union members their political voices back.

Proposition 32 is NOT an attack by Republicans on unions and their members. It is an attempt to rid Sacramento of the corruptions brought about by special interests. Sacramento displays immense corruption in its political system. Special interests wield almost exclusive power over political decisions due to their HUGE monetary contributions. They make contributions to politicians, and those politicians reciprocate the favor by enacting legislation favorable to their special interest donors. The corruption sickens me. Decisions should be based on what is best for ALL Californians, not based on the whims of those who write the biggest checks.

We NEED proposition 32. It eliminates ALL special interest donations to Sacramento. So long as special interests keep BUYING political influence, California will never shine with its former radiance. Lets return power to the people, and restore the spirit of democracy in California.

So Bruce, You support a dishonest prolific lying racist con man who had, until he threw him under a bus, a close friend and Mentor named the Rev. Wright? A man who ODUMA, aside from attending his White and America Hating sermons for over 20 years, he met with hundreds of times in his home. You support a low life who has two Terrorist leaders (Dorn / Ayres) who are resposible for robbing our banks, bombing private firms, US buildings and military facilites like the Penatagon and West Point as well as Police Stations / Police Cars and who also killed Americans as CLOSE FRIENDS? In my view, any one who supports him is as totaly lacking in Morals, Ethics, Honor and Integrity as Oduma is !
