Are You the Type that Infrastructure Excites You? And You'd Work for Free?

The city of Rancho Palos Verdes is currently conducting a recruitment to fill seven seats on the city’s newly created Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee. 

These are volunteer, non-paying positions with four-year terms of office. Initially, the term of office will be staggered, with four seats with a term of four years (including the chair) and three seats with a term of two years in length. 

The Infrastructure Management Advisory Committee will focus on the city’s infrastructure needs and advise the City Council on capital improvement projects, maintenance issues and solutions, and participate in the creation of the city’s first-ever Infrastructure Management Plan.

The topics the IMAC will explore will include the following: public buildings; park sites; trails; the stormwater system; the sanitary sewer system, including the Abalone Cove Sewer District; street rights-of-way and traffic control devices; and the Palos Verdes Drive South/Portuguese Bend landslide. 

The IMAC will meet on a monthly basis and be subject to the Ralph M. Brown Act, which means the IMAC meetings are open to the public and committee member deliberations are conducted openly.

The IMAC will prepare an annual work plan that includes reviewing each infrastructure category and reporting to the City Council and the community on the progress of projects, maintenance standards and performance, and the implementation of the Infrastructure Management Plan.

Those interested in applying must submit an application to the City Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15.
