Vehicle Hits Cyclist in Rolling Hills Estates, Sending Him to the Hospital

The driver did not appear to be impaired, officials said.

A driver in a BMW struck a cyclist in Rolling Hills Estates today, sending him to the hospital.

A 52-year-old man was peddling west down Palos Verdes Drive North at Rolling Hills Road around 1:30 p.m. today when he was struck from behind by a motorist traveling the same direction, said Lt. John Wolak of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The man was injured "enough to go to the hospital. He was disoriented," but he was conscious, Wolak said.

The driver was not written a citation at the scene, Wolak said.

"There was no indication the driver was impaired. It was just an accident," he said.

Deputies, however, will investigate the incident, Wolak added.
