Suspected Child Molester to Stand Trial

Camacho Antioco Rodrgiuez was ordered back to court Feb. 21 for a post-preliminary hearing arraignment.

A 37-year-old Redwood City man must stand trial on child sex molestation charges for allegedly abusing a young relative.

Camacho Antioco Rodrgiuez was ordered back to court Feb. 21 for a post-preliminary hearing arraignment; he faces 75 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

He is accused of molesting the girl from the age of five to the age of 13, when she told her mother.

The teen told her mother that the suspect had progressed to sexual intercourse with her when she was nine and almost daily assaulted her, prosecutors said.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe reported that the girl's mother confronted the suspect over the telephone and he threatened to kill the mom's family in Mexico if she went to police.

She did go to police but the suspect went to Mexico with a second family he had -- which also included a young daughter, Wagstaffe reported.

Rodriguez was found in Mexico, arrested and extradited to the United States, Wagstaffe said.

A preliminary hearing was held this week and the San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Barbara Mallach bound him over for trial.

He remained in custody on no bail.
