Suspect Charged in Fatal Bar Fight

Francisco "Frank" Cobarruvias Jr. is charged with one count of murder in connection with the beating death of Terie Colecchi outside Pats II Cocktails.

A man suspected of fatally beating a bouncer at in South Redondo Beach to death was officially charged Monday, the Daily Breeze reported.

Citing Deputy District Attorney Erica Jerez, Breeze reporter Larry Altman said Francisco "Frank" Cobarruvias Jr., 35, to Redondo Beach police last Thursday, faces one count of murder. He was set to be arraigned Monday.

Cobarruvias is accused of beating Torrance resident Terie Colecchi, 49, to death outside the South Redondo Beach bar on June 2 after Colecchi denied him and another man entry shortly before closing time, police said. Witnesses called 911 and Colecchi was transported to Harbor General Hospital, where he died.

Cobarruvias' lawyer has said this is a case of mistaken identity.

Bartenders at Pats II Cocktails told Easy Reader reporter Chelsea Sektnan that Cobarruvias was a regular at the bar.

Another man who police believe was involved in the beating, Alejandro Avina, 30, of Carson, was pending further investigation, Sgt. Shawn Freeman said at the time.

Really, your going to go to "blame the victim" ? He didn't have to have a underlining health issues, just several good kicks and stomps on your head could kill someone. I'm sorry that Franks wife died of a overdose that is very sad but why would you put that out there? Your insinuating that "Tere might have in someway deserved what happened to him, that maybe he was a bad guy" Tere didn't sell drugs, he was a hard working ,good sweet man, who would help anyone , listen to your woes and treat you with respect who was just doing his job. He didn't deserve what happened to him and your friend is responsible. His actions caused a lot of pain to Tere's son ,his family, his friends and he also hurt his own family and friends. Nothing good came out of this horrible day but please don't try to slander the victim because your friend is the defendant.

I'm appalled that there is no new info on Terie's MURDER...

That was MY sister that died of the overdose. They weren't married. He was and is a low life piece of garbage that used to beat her. He is nothing but scum and I wish he would rot away and get raped and beaten every single day he is in jail for what he put my sister through.

Michele, I am sorry for the loss of your sister. May she rest in peace. This was a cowardly act simplify because Teri wouldn't let them back in (they were there earlier) because last call was over. I hate that fact that his friend is trying to push the blame on Teri somehow. (Maybe he had underling health issues, maybe he was a drug dealer and he was mourning his wife) I will tell you, I knew Teri and he was a good man who was just doing his job. He was kind to Frank, listened to his sorrows and Frank and his friend made the decision that they were going to kick and stomp on him because he wouldn't let them in. The bar was closing. He did not deserve this and he is at no fault for it.
