A composite drawing, based on an eyewitness report, was released today of a man who shot a peacock the night of July 9 in the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The spcaLA reported that the eyewitness saw a four-door silver Mercedes- Benz sedan stop in the 27000 block of Eastvale Road and a man step out and use some type of pellet gun to shoot a peacock in a driveway about 8:20 p.m. The peacock collapsed and died, said Ana Bustilloz of the animal protection agency.

Since June 2012, 52 peafowl have been found dead or injured in Rolling Hills Estates, prompting an investigation by spcaLA investigators, she said.
