RHE Blotter: Bank Robbery, Mail Theft

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station supplied this information on crime in Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills and unincorporated areas of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills and unincorporated areas of the Palos Verdes Peninsula for the period of time spanning Nov. 3 through Dec. 14.

One person was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property, while two were arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license in Rolling Hills Estates. No arrests were reported in Rolling Hills. No crimes or arrests were reported in the unincorporated county areas of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Rolling Hills Estates

Bank robbery

Dec. 6, 3:13 p.m.; 500 block of Silver Spur Road
A man held up a bank and got away with thousands of dollars. According to deputies, he handed the teller a note demanding money. Witnesses described the robber as a 25- to 30-year-old white man standing between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 180-200 pounds. He had brown hair. He was wearing a black fitted cloth cap, black sunglasses, a white shirt, black pants and a dark jacket.

Mail theft

Nov. 3-11; 900 block of Deep Valley Drive
Someone broke the locks on post office boxes and stole mail.

Petty theft

Dec. 3; Silver Spur Drive
A Sundance purse, Versace sunglasses, and a Coach wallet containing a California driver's license and debit card were stolen from an unlocked vehicle. Deputies believe that two people who entered and exited a pickup truck around the time of the theft may have had something to do with it.

Dec. 3-4; 2200 block of Carriage Drive
A Bosch laser measuring device was stolen from a vehicle. The driver's door was unlocked.

Nov. 26; 27100 block of Silver Spur Road
An Apple iPhone 4 was stolen.

An Apple iPhone 4 was stolen. According to deputies, a "suspicious person" was sitting near the victim's belongings.

Nov. 5-6; 4900 block of Rolling Meadows
Someone stole a box containing six bottles of Bruchelle that were left on a porch.

Vehicle burglary

Dec. 5-6; 500 block of Deep Valley Drive
A Nike gym bag; Ralph Lauren wallet containing a California driver's license, $168 and miscellaneous credit cards; and an Apple iPod were stolen from a vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.

Nov. 28; 700 block of Silver Spur Road
Someone smashed the rear window of a vehicle with a pole sign and stole a Delco vehicle battery. A 30- to 35-year-old, 5 foot 6 inch to 5 foot 8 inch, 160- to 170-pound white man with brown hair was seen breaking the vehicle's window and stealing the battery from under the hood.

Burglary

Nov. 22; Lariat Lane
Someone rang the doorbell of a home on Lariat Lane. When the victim didn't answer, a side door was smashed open. The victim heard noises and yelled, sending the burglar fleeing in a silver four-door vehicle. The burglar was described as an 18- to 20-year-old, 5 foot 10 inch, 200 pound Hispanic man with black hair wearing a black jacket and black pants. The getaway driver was described only as an 18- to 20-year-old Hispanic man.

Nov. 20; Encanto Drive
Miscellaneous antique costume jewelry and two Apple laptops were stolen from a home. Deputies believe the burglar came in through an unlocked sliding glass door.

Nov. 16-17; Aurora Drive
Someone entered a garage and stole a Garmin Nuvi GPS from an unlocked vehicle.

Commercial burglary

Dec. 5-6; 400 block of Silver Spur Road
Someone pried open the rear door of a business and bent the latch before prying open the cash registrar drawer and stealing $200. Deputies believe the burglary is a white man standing between 5-feet, 5-inches tall and 5-feet 9-inches tall with brown hair.

Nov. 3-8; 27300 block of Palos Verdes Drive East
A Panasonic digital camera, quartz crystal, cash register key and cash were stolen from a business. There were no signs of forced entry.

Grand theft auto

Nov. 25; 500 block of Deep Valley Drive
Someone stole a 2013 Yamaha M-1 motorcycle.

Rolling Hills

Burglary

Unknown date; Ringbit Road
A home on Ringbit Road was burglarized. No further information was provided.
