RHE Woman Killed in Friday Crash

The 24-year-old was killed after she crashed into a tree near Pacific Coast Highway and Airport Drive.

A 24-year-old Rolling Hills Estates woman, allegedly driving a stolen station wagon, was killed after she crashed the car Friday while fleeing police. 

Vanesa Gomez died after the 2:15 a.m. crash into a tree near Pacific Coast Highway and Airport Drive. She was driving a red Volvo station wagon that was reported stolen, police said. 

Torrance police said a check done near a parking lot in the 4200 block of PCH showed the car had been reported stolen on Tuesday in Torrance.

After Gomez ran a red light at PCH and Crenshaw, police lost sight of the car, they said, and later found it crashed into a tree.

California Highway Patrol officers plan to investigate the crash.
