RHE Resident Arrested After Shooting
Karen Benjestorf of Rolling Hills Estates is accused of negligently discharging a firearm.
A resident of Rolling Hills Estates was arrested early Wednesday morning in connection with a shooting in Redondo Beach, according to a news release from the Redondo Beach Police Department.
Karen Benjestorf, 37, was booked into the Redondo Beach Jail on suspicion of the negligent discharge of a firearm, according to Sgt. Shawn Freeman.
Sgt. Fabian Saucedo told Redondo Beach Patch that Benjestorf was arguing with her boyfriend, Ronald Barker, 43, of Redondo Beach, when she picked up the gun and fired it at the floor. The bullet shattered, injuring Barker.

Barker was arrested on suspicion of battery.
Benjestorf was released from jail Wednesday upon posting her $35,000 bail. The investigation is ongoing.
