Police: Resident Interrupted Intruder

Residents should remember to lock their doors when they leave the house, according to the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department.

A Palos Verdes Estates resident returned home Thursday to find a strange man standing in the bedroom, authorities said.

According to an email from Community Relations Officer Marcelle McCullough of the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department, the resident came home at 6:30 p.m. after being gone about an hour.

The alleged burglar—who police only described as an adult male—left the house and was arrested nearby, McCullough said.

"It is thought the suspect entered through a faulty door that does not have a dead bolt while other members of the family were in another area of the home," she said. "Please allow this to serve as a reminder to lock your doors and set your alarm if you have one upon leaving, even for a short period of time."

People should also lock their doors while they're at home, McCullough said.

Residents should report suspicious vehicles and people right away by calling PVEPD at 310-378-4211. If a crime appears to be in progress, call 911.
