The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Dec. 30 through Jan. 6.

Hazard

Dec. 31, 7:45 p.m.; 500 block of Paseo Lunado
Officers responding to a report of a trash can fire found two smoldering trash cans. They extinguished the fire with water. The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived after the fire was extinguished and rendered the scene safe.

Public intoxication and trespass

Jan. 1, 1:02 a.m.; 1100 block of Via Curva
A subject tried to enter a residence without permission through an unlocked closed rear door. A responding officer arrested the subject on suspicion of public intoxication and trespassing.

Driving under the influence

Jan. 4, 1:08 a.m.; 1300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Jan. 1, 1:40 a.m.; Intersection of Palos Verdes Drive West and Marguerite Drive
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Drugs

Jan. 5, 2:34 p.m.; 800 block of Via del Monte
An officer investigating a suspicious person in a vehicle arrested the occupant on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Vehicle burglary

Jan. 5; 300 block of Paseo del Mar
Someone unlocked the victim's vehicle using a hidden key and removed miscellaneous items.
