Palos Verdes Crime: Vehicle Burglaries, Thefts

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Oct. 1-7. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Sept. Oct. 1-7.

Palos Verdes Estates

Vehicle burglary

Oct. 2; 500 block of Via Media
An officer arrested a driver at approximately 11:23 a.m. for possession of a prohibited weapon, grand theft, receiving stolen property and mail theft.

Theft Under False Pretense

Oct. 3; 1400 block of Via Castilla
Someone called a home at approximately 10 a.m. identifying himself as a representative from Publisher's Clearing House and told the victim to send in money in order to collect a cash prize of $1.5 million.

Drug Arrest

Oct. 4; 200 Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer arrested a driver for driving under a suspended license and arrests a passenger for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Battery
Oct. 5; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
A male suspect entered his elderly mother's residence without permission at approximately 9:17 p.m. and punched a caregiver in the stomach.
Criminal Threat
Oct. 5; 600 Cloyden Road
A named juvenile verbally threatened a teacher at approximately 12:12 p.m. on school grounds.
TheftOct. 5; 1500 block of Via Coronel
A suspect, or possibly suspects, removed an empty metal work box from the location between 6 a.m. and 1:50 p.m.

Dog Bite
Oct. 5; 2400 block of Chelsea Road
An officer was bitten on the hand at approximately 6:50 p.m. by the resident's dog while checking the rear perimeter and yard during a burglary alarm investigation.

Traffic Offense
Oct. 6; 2600 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:45 a.m. and arrested the driver for driving on a suspended license.

Rancho Palos Verdes

Deputies arrested one person on suspicion of petty theft of a bicycle and two people on suspicion of residential burglary.

Vehicle burglaries
Oct. 2-3; 3200 block of La Rotonda Drive
A garage door opener was stolen from a parked car in a garage. Deputies say a slim jim or another device was pushed into the door jam of the door on the driver's side.

Oct. 2-3; 3200 block of La Rotonda Drive
A GPS Tom Tom Model One XL, two checkbooks, prescription glasses and sunglasses, debit cards and a garage door opener were stolen from a parked car in a garage.

Residential Burglary
Oct. 1; Toprail Lane
Two suspects were arrested after apparently entering a home through unlocked doors.

No crimes or arrests were reported.

Rolling Hills Estates

Commercial burglary
Oct. 3; 500 block of Deep Valley Drive
A suspect, or suspects, entered the business through an adjacent business by cutting out a drywall and stole an 18-carat woman's diamond necklace and an 18-carat woman's white gold necklace with sapphire and four white diamond women's bracelets.
