Palos Verdes Crime: Stolen 'For Sale' Sign

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Aug. 13-19. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Aug. 11-17. 

Palos Verdes Estates

Recovered vehicle

Aug. 13, 8:15 a.m.; Via Media and Via Aromitas
Officers recovered a vehicle that had been reported stolen to the Torrance Police Department.

Vehicle burglary

Aug. 13, 11:56 a.m.; 400 block of Via Aromitas
Officers arrested two men on suspicion of burglary. According to police, the officers spotted the suspects rummaging through the back seat of a vehicle belonging to someone else.

Grand theft

Aug. 13; 3300 block of Via Campesina
At some point between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., someone rummaged through a victim's unattended golf bag and stole a watch.

Theft

Aug. 15; 100 block of Via Colusa
Someone removed the real estate sign from the front yard of a residence for sale. The theft occurred at some point between 4 p.m. Aug. 14 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 15.

Driving under the influence

Aug. 15, 8:07 a.m.; 200 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Aug. 16, 1:17 a.m.; Via Rivera and Via Zumaya
Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Aug. 17, 3:30 a.m.; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Additionally, a passenger was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

Aug. 18, 1:45 p.m.; 800 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drugs

Aug. 16, 11:25 p.m.; 2000 block of Paseo del Sol
Officers investigating an illegally parked vehicle discovered drugs. The occupant was cited on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

Vandalism

Aug. 17; Via Colusa and Paseo del Campo
A vandal used black spray paint to damage road signs owned by the city of Palos Verdes Estates. The crime occurred between 4 p.m. Aug. 16 and 3:32 p.m. Aug. 17.

Traffic stop

Aug. 17, 1:20 a.m.; 3100 block of Palos Verdes Drive North
Officers conducted a traffic stop and cited the driver for violating probation for a DUI.

Warrant arrest

Aug. 19, 8:34 a.m.; Paseo del Mar and Oakley Road
Two disorderly subjects were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Rancho Palos Verdes

One person was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, while another was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

Attempted burglary

Aug. 12; 5500 block of Ironwood Drive
Deputies are investigating an attempted residential burglary that occurred at some point between 11 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. Aug. 12. Pry marks were found on the sliding glass door, front door and garage door; however, nothing was taken. Neighbors reported seeing a suspicious person in the area passing out business cards that were advertising the purchase of junk cars.

Grand theft auto

Aug. 26; 29600 block of Island View Drive
Someone stole a white 1995 Acura Integra GSR at some point between 8 p.m. Aug. 14 and 4 a.m. Aug. 16. The vehicle was later recovered by the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollenbeck division.

Aggravated assault

Aug. 13; 28900 block of Western Avenue
The victim and four others got into an argument that turned into a physical assault at about 10:15 p.m. Aug. 13. Two of the assailants were described as 20- to 25-year-old, 5-foot-9-inch, 150- to 170-pound Hispanic men with black hair and brown eyes. A third assailant was described as a 20- to 25-year-old, 180- to 190-pound Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes who stands between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and the fourth assailant was described as a 20- to 25-year-old, 170- to 190-pound Hispanic man with black hair and brown eyes who stands between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Petty theft

Aug. 16; 29600 block of Western Avenue
Someone stole a woman's red wallet containing a California driver's license, Social Security card, credit cards and $60.

No arrests were reported during this period.

Petty theft

Aug. 13; Hackamore Road
Someone stole a UPS package left on the victim's doorstep. The package contained a Sylvania portable DVD player.

Rolling Hills Estates

No arrests were reported during this period.

Commercial burglary

Aug. 14; 26400 block of Crenshaw Boulevard
A burglar entered the business through the north door, rummaged around and took nothing. There were no signs of forced entry.

Shoplifting

Aug. 11, 5:47 p.m.; Peninsula Center
Deputies believe they have identified the person who stole two bottles of Chardonnay.

Westfield

No crimes or arrests reported during this period.
