Palos Verdes Crime: DUI, Home Burglaries, Mailbox Thefts

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Feb.  through last Saturday. The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Feb. 12 through last Monday.

Palos Verdes Estates

Police arrested two people on warrants, one person on suspicion of driving without a license and another on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Feb. 12; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Someone fraudulently used a victim's credit card to conduct various transactions.

Feb. 15; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Someone used a victim's personal information to obtain the victim's debit card and pin number. The information was then used to fraudulently withdraw cash from an ATM at the Peninsula Center.

Theft 

Feb. 12; Intersection of Via Valmonte and Via Alcance
At some point between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. someone entered an unlocked vehicle and removed items from the trunk before fleeing.

Feb. 17; 2700 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., someone took two leather couches from a residence then fled in an unknown direction.

Driving under the influence

Feb. 18; 100 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 2:08 a.m. and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Traffic Offense

Feb. 14, 11:13 a.m.; Granvia Altimara and Hawthorne Boulevard
During a traffic stop, the officer arrested the driver for allegedly driving without a license, a felony warrant and a misdemeanor warrant.

Vandalism

Feb. 14; 300 block of Paseo Del Mar
Sometime between 8:40 p.m. and 10:30 a.m., a named suspect allegedly climbed the rear security gate of a business and then kicked in the windshield of a company vehicle.

Warrant Arrest

Feb. 16, 1:04 a.m.; Intersection of Paseo Lunado and Palos Verdes Drive West.
An officer conducting a traffic stop arrested the driver of the vehicle on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Trespassing

Feb. 16, 5:40 p.m.; 500 block of Via Media
Someone entered a residential garage and then fled after being confronted by the homeowner.

Rancho Palos Verdes

Suspects are sought in several different burglaries.

Grand Theft

Feb. 11-12, 11 p.m. to 10 a.m.; 28800 block of Palos Verdes Drive East
A blue Yamaha motorcycle was reported taken. The suspect in the grand theft is not known.

Petty Theft

Feb. 12, 4:25 p.m.; 5900 block of Palos Verdes Drive South
An Apple iPhone was taken. Two males are suspected in the petty theft. 

Burglary

Feb. 13, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 29800 block of Grandpoint Lane
A burglar removed a bathroom window to gain entry to the home and stole jewelry.

Burglary

Feb. 14, 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., 6900 block of Larkvale Drive
A burglar entered a living room by forcing open a sliding door. Some $1,200 in U.S., Korean and Chinese currency was taken.

Grand Theft

Feb. 15, 12 p.m. to 12:10 p.m., 29300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
Cameras, cell phone, iPod and sunglasses were taken in a grand theft. It was not unknown how the items were taken.

Petty Theft

Feb. 15, 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., 28100 block of Ridgefern Circle
A Samsung Galaxy cell phone was taken. The circumstances of the petty theft and the suspect are unknown.

Burglary

Feb. 15-16, 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., 28700 block of Western Avenue
A front glass door was smashed and a cash register containing $250 was taken. The suspect/suspects are unknown.

Burglary

Feb. 14, 3 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., 28800 block of Crestridge Road
An unknown burglary suspect or suspects smashed a sliding glass door and took Flexeril and Valium.

Rolling Hills

Two mailbox thefts were reported.

Burglary

Jan. 12-Feb. 12, 12 p.m., Cinchring Road
An unknown suspect or suspects broke a front window to steal a sterling silver utensil set.

Theft of U.S. Mail

Feb. 14-15, 4 p.m. to 11:10 p.m., 2700 block of Palos Verdes Drive North
A mailbox lock was pried open and miscellaneous mail taken by an unknown suspect or suspects.

Theft of U.S. Mail

Feb. 12-15, 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., 2700 block of Palos Verdes Drive North
Miscellaneous mail was taken by an unknown suspect or suspects when a mail box lock was pried open. 

Rolling Hills Estates

Two car thefts were reported.

Narcotics/Burglary

Feb. 10, 4:42 p.m., 500 block of Deep Valley Drive
A burglary suspect was arrested in connection with a break-in of a vehicle. Items recovered included a purse, car keys, gift cards, credit cards, iPhone and camera.

Burglary

Feb. 11, 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., 500 block of Deep Valley Drive
A vehicle window was smashed and a men's wallet and credit cars taken. The suspect or suspects were not known.

Petty Theft

Feb. 12, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., 700 block of Deep Valley Drive
A wallet, credit cards and cash were taken in a petty theft.

Petty Theft

Feb. 13, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Dorado Place
A mailbox was taken in a petty theft. 

Grand Theft

Feb. 13-14, 7 a.m. to 7 a.m., Cottonwood Circle
A Cuisinart coffeemaker, brass trumpet, oil painting and $200 were taken in a grand theft. No suspect was identified.

Westfield

No crimes or arrests were reported.
